The grass farm delivers fresh Raleigh St. Augustine grass to our landscape & supply store every day (Monday through Saturday). Bermuda and Zoysia-type grass can be ordered as special order items only.
Topsoil is available in 1/2 cubic yard and 1 cubic yard quantities at our landscape & supply store in Spring, TX. Topsoil is the soil’s outermost layer, generally 5-10 inches deep, and it contains the highest concentration of organic matter, nutrients, and microorganisms required by plants to thrive. It’s ideal for laying a fertile foundation for your garden, raised beds, sod installation or any other landscaping project. Please keep in mind that loose materials can only be delivered if you order at least one cubic yard.
We offer our grass for sale at two distinct price points. Wholesale (contractor) pricing is exclusively available to landscapers and contractors. Meanwhile, individual customers are provided with retail (non contractor) pricing.
A single pallet of our grass is sufficient to cover an area of around 450 square feet. The individual pieces of grass measure about 2 foot by 1 foot in size.

1. What are the best growing conditions for Raleigh St. Augustine Grass in our area?
Raleigh thrives in warm, humid climates and grows well in moderately fertile, well-drained soils with a pH of 5.5 to 7.5.
This grass requires at least six to seven hours of direct sunlight per day to look its best, but it can tolerate filtered sunlight for the rest of the day.
2. How do we install sod, and when is the best time to do so in Houston?
Sod comes in pre-cut pieces or rolls that are grown and harvested on farms.
The best time to install sod is from late spring to early summer, when temperatures range between 70°F and 95°F, but it can be installed all year in our area.
Before laying sod, remove any weeds and rocks from the soil and add any necessary amendments. Keep the soil moist but not wet, then place each piece tightly together like puzzle pieces, pressing the edges firmly. Water thoroughly immediately after installation.
3. How frequently should we water after installing new sod?
Water the pieces thoroughly immediately after installation until they feel squishy to the touch.
Apply half an inch of water daily for the first two weeks, then every other day for the remaining two weeks.
After the first month, water deeply once or twice per week, depending on the weather, aiming for at least six inches of soil penetration.
4. How frequently should we fertilize, and what type is best?
Raleigh requires two to three fertilizations per year—usually in early spring, late spring, and early fall.
Use a slow-release, balanced fertilizer that includes nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. Follow the package instructions carefully and water immediately after application to allow nutrients to soak into the soil.
5. How much sunlight does Raleigh St. Augustine require, and how much shade is excessive?
Raleigh requires six to seven hours of direct sunlight per day to thrive.
While it can tolerate some shade, excessive shade causes the grass to thin and become more susceptible to disease and insects. If your lawn receives less than six hours of direct sunlight, consider a shade-tolerant variety such as Palmetto St. Augustine, or redesign shaded areas with shade-loving plants. When growing Raleigh in shadier areas, keep it healthy with proper watering, fertilizing, and mowing practices to help it withstand the harsh conditions.
